Our story dates back to 1970 when Earl Oller opened Star Traders Pawn Shop, which was a division of H&B Company.

A few years later H&B Company absorbed Star traders and Earl continued to partner and manage H&B Company, helping it become the largest pawnshop in the state.

Earl departed H&B company in 1997, along with a core of employees, to start Silver Lining Jewelry and Loan. Our mission has always been to offer our customers the ability to borrow money with a family friendly, professional company.

From the start, Silver Lining Jewelry and Loan put itself in a leadership position for the industry.  Earl was passionate in his work to protect the rights of legitimate pawnbrokers against illegal moneylenders, and he worked just as hard to ensure that consumer rights were protected as well, giving people a safe place to borrow money.

Silver Lining, led by Earl, quickly became the single largest pawn shop in the state, with a solid reputation as the place to go when you need help.  Whether it was to get a great deal on a new piece of jewelry, to custom build your own engagement ring, to find that perfect vintage guitar, or to be able to borrow some money knowing that your items will be kept safe till your return, Silver Lining was, and continues to be, the place to go when you need help.

Silver Lining continues as his son, Josh, took over ownership in 2016, strengthening that legacy put in motion years ago by Earl, Oregon’s most respected and trusted Pawnbroker.
